Thursday Date Night Ideas

I remembered late last night that I completely forgot to post my Thursday date idea! So a day late, but here it is.

During a night out and talking to my friends, this idea came up and I knew it was going to be the first date to share.

Take a wine tour and tasting. This is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon on a date or with a group of people. I did this a few years back and our tour and tasting was actually free. I think most are around $5 to tour... always call ahead to make sure they do tours year round.

$.50/2 Hunt's Tomato Products- Pair this with a sale and it should make for some inexpensive tomatoes when doubled (perfect for chili!)

$.50/1 Dole Canned Fruit- Just play the Flip a Fruit Game and get your coupon. This should also make for some inexpensive or free fruit!

$.50/1 Vlasic Pickles, Relish, or Peppers- Once again, if your store doubles coupons this should make for a great deal on pickles!

Walgreens Brita Pitcher for $.49!

I have read this post on several blogs and definitely wanted to share it! I wish I had a Walgreens near me, they always have the best deals.

It is reported that people are finding the Brita water pitcher on clearance for $8.49. Use the $5/1 coupon here. Receive $3.00 in Register Rewards and end up paying $.49 for the pitcher!

I agree with Deal Seeking Mom this would definitely be a good Christmas gift for a college student, or anyone in the family!

Shopping trip to Target

I have been busy running errands today and they will continue tonight so I wanted to take a quick break and update the site with my recent finds! I went to Target and found quite a few good deals. They have all Green Dot items in the dollar bins 50% off... I bought some ridiculous reading glasses for my mom. They also have all their fall colored plastic bins 50% off. I got 2 big storage bins for $3.48 each and 2 smaller baskets for $1.48 each. I also picked up large Rubbermaid Take-Along containers that had orange lids (for Halloween/fall) for $2.48 each and used a recent $1/2 coupon. Definitely worth a trip if you need any of those items... plus there were plenty of other sale items.

Right now Target has a coupon for $1/1 Archer Farms bakery item and several of their smaller items are only $.99, free after coupon. The reported items you can get for free are muffins, rice krispie treats, macaroons, artisan bread mini loaves, brownie bites, and chocolate chip cookies. I wish I had a Super Target near me!

Wednesday Frugal Tip

My first frugal tip is also going to be a green tip. Start using reusable shopping bags! This is a great way to help the environment, plus you can fit sooooo much more in these bags. I live on the 3rd floor and I would much rather carry 3 reusable bag than 15 plastic bags. Plus stores are starting to give discounts to people who bring in their own bags.

Here are some of the stores I know of that give discounts for reusable bags.

Target- $.05 for each bag

Whole Foods- $.10 for each bag

CVS- $1.00 for every 4 times you use a reusable bag

I am also sharing lots of ways to score some free reusable bags so keep a look out for them on the site!

Plus you don't have to buy reusable bags, I use old totes from trade shows, promotional items, old canvas totes I use to carry books in, there are all sorts of old bags that make perfect reusable bags!

Where the WIld Things Are Activity Book

I think this kids activity guide is too cute and had to post it! This activity book is in honor of the new Where the Wild Things Are movie. It includes Bingo, Cut Out dolls, and several other items. Definitely worth printing out if you have little ones. Also a good opportunity to go see the movie or borrow the book from the library.

Mom's Best just released a new coupon for $.75/1 for their cereal. I didn't think they sold this in my area, but I saw it at Walmart last night. The big box of cereal is $2.08 and with the coupon it makes this big box only $1.33. That's a pretty good deal for cereal.

Monday Recipe- Chicken Stuffing Casserole

This is one of my favorites, it is quick, easy, and super cheap... plus super tasty! I will give you the recipe, plus the cost of items I used and any coupons available for the items.

Ingredients

1lb. chicken breast ($1.99lb value pack from Wegman's)

1 box stuffing mix ($1 store brand)

1 can Cream of Chicken soup ($.50 from Giant. Use coupon here)

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Cube chicken and boil until cooked through

Prepare stuffing mix as stated on box

Mix chicken and soup mix in casserole dish

Place prepared stuffing on top of chicken

Cover dish and cook for 30 minutes

Total time for meal- 45 minutes

Total cost for meal- $3.50 for 2-3 people

Add a vegetable to this meal and you can feed everyone for around $1.25 a plate!
